Canada october 22-28.10.2018 2018 World Traditional Karate Championship & Traditional Karate World Children’s Cup

The World Traditional Karate-Do Federation (WTKF) held its World Championship and Children’s Cup on October 22-28 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. More than 31 countries and 400 athletes from around the world gathered at Mile One Arena for two days of high level competition and camaraderie. The Championship was preceded by two days of intensive judging seminar and productive general assembly meetings. The Mayor of St. John’s, Danny Breen, hosted a delightful reception for judges and officials to welcome them to his city as a show of appreciation for selecting St. John’s to be the host of this prestigious event.

Mayor Breen, other city council and parliamentary members opened the Championship finals with their remarks. The WTKF President, Włodzimierz Kwiecinski, also offered his remarks, which were followed by a remembrance for the 10-year anniversary of Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyam’s passing, as well as a special recognition for the life of Witold Kwiecinski. The opening ceremony also included a large band orchestra and demonstrations by members of the Canadian Traditional Karate Federation. This World Championship showcased the high skills of Traditional Karate practitioners from around the globe, and included live coverage by Rogers Broadcasting throughout the event. The WTKF, as a recipient of and continuing entity of the legacy set forth by the Sensei Nishiyama has carried out the mission, technical skills, and spirit set forth by him. It has improved upon these fundamentals each year, as evidenced in the progress of practitioners in this organization.

Traditional Karate-do Pan-American Championships was a great success!

The 18. Traditional Karate-do Pan-American Championships took place on November 21-25, 2017 in Lima, Peru. The event was sanctioned by WTKF but organised by Asociación Peruana de Karate Tradicional with the cooperation of the Club de Regatas Lima,  Mr. Guillermo de Vettori and his staff. The tournament became the great success.

The event was dedicated to the memory of Marcos Moron Sensei who passed away in 2015. He was a very talented and awarded karateka, repeated medallist of World and Pan-American Championships.

Eduardo Salas (Wayo Salas) Sensei took the Honorary Patronage of the event. He is a very special person, who had a huge involvement in the organization of the World Traditional Karate Championships which took place in 1990 in Lima, Peru. That tournament was the milestone in the development of traditional karate-do worldwide. During that event Wlodzimierz Kwiecinski Sensei, WTKF President met Hidetaka Nishiyama Sensei for the first time.

In the Pan-American Championships competed athletes from the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and USA. The Brazil team proved to be the best. They won 97 medals: 37 gold, 28 silver and 32 brown. The 2nd place was taken by the team from Peru which won 89 medals: 19 gold, 27 silver and 43 brown.

Apart from Pan-American Championships, Lima was also the venue of Intercontinental Kumite Matches. The participants were teams from South America, North America and Peru. The intercontinental tournament was attended by guests from Poland as well. The match in women category was won by the Polish national team, consisting of: Maria Depta, Justyna Marciniak and Klaudia Mleko. The 1st place in man category was also taken by Polish team, its members being: Dawid Rojowski, Michal Sowa and Lukasz Wojcik.

Congratulations to all participants of the tournament! We create a strong community based on the knowledge gained from Hidetaka Nishiyama Sensei.

The 3rd Traditional Karate European Children’s Cup

The 3rd Traditional Karate European Children’s Cup
19th October, England

The 3rd Traditional Karate European Children’s Cup is now history. The competition took place on 19th Oct. in the main sports hall at Bushfield Leisure Centre in Peterborough, UK. We had a chance to watch efforts of over 200 young Traditional Karate athletes from 7 countries (UK, Poland, Czech Republic, Armenia, Lithuania, Russia and Latvia).

The grand, official opening was delivered by the Mayor of the City of Peterborough, Madam June Stokes – the Honorary Patron of the event – who passed on her appreciation to Traditional Karate Academy Boston for organizing an event of such high standards. Words of appreciation also came from Vice-Consul, Grzegorz Sala who spoke on behalf of the Ambassador of the Polish Republic, Mr. Witold Sobkow. The effort and passion were also noticed and acknowledged by the Mayor of Boston, Mr. Paul Kenny who, inspired by the tournament and volume of action undertaken by the Boston Academy declared his personal engagement into propagating Traditional Karate.

Another person who could not have been missed among the guests was sensei Wlodzimierz Kwiecinski 7 Dan, a/a ITKF Chairman, the mentor or numerous karate athletes in the world. It was him  emphasize that any competition in Traditional Karate is only an integral part of training whose aim is not only becoming better and better on the tatami, but consequently, through those virtues of character shaped by restless effort in Dojo, in the life itself.

The main referee was sensei Nelson Carrion 6 Dan, who commented upon a very high level of technical preparation of the young athletes.
There was a special event that drew enormous attention from all the spectators, namely a special demonstration presented by World Champions, sensei Daniel Iwanek (3 Dan) and sensei Pawel Janusz (3 Dan).

There were a lot of great emotions and huge applause coming from all the enthusiasts of the beautiful art of Traditional Karate. The strongest representation came from Poland and this is the Poles who won the most medals proving for the next time their belonging to the best in Europe and also in the world.

7th TRADITIONAL KARATE WORLD CUP

7th TRADITIONAL KARATE WORLD CUP
JUNE 15, 2013, LUBLIN, POLAND

The 7th Traditional Karate World Cup 2013 took place on 15 June 2013 in the Sport Hall GLOBUS  in Lublin (Poland). The 2013 World Cup was combined with a tournament for young traditional karate athletes – Traditional Karate Polish Children’s Cup.

The 2013 World Cup was dedicated to the memory of Dan Stuparu Sensei who passed away on 28 April 2013. We still feel deep grief after his sudden and unexpected passing and we cannot accept that he is no longer with us especially in view of the forthcoming World Cup. He has participated in all previous editions of the World Cup since 2001 and he was supposed to participate with the Romanian athletes in 2013 edition, too.

In the Word Cup scompetitions are set by the individual cup system. 8 players and 8 female players start in the technical events (kitei, kata) and in close combat – they must demonstrate a comprehensive technical preparation. European Cup competitions are held every two years.
