International Master Seminar with Sensei Avi Rokah

The International Master Seminar in Traditional Karate with Sensei Avi Rokah (8th Dan) took place in Zielona Góra over the weekend of May 22–24, 2026.

Several hundred karate practitioners from Poland and abroad participated in the seminar.

Training sessions were divided into two blocks – one for less advanced participants and another for those at a more advanced level.

Additionally, the senior and youth national teams trained under the guidance of Sensei Avi Rokah.

During the seminar, Sensei Avi Rokah was awarded the rank of 9th Dan.

During the International Traditional Karate Master Course held on May 22–24, 2026 in Zielona Góra, Poland, the International Technical Committee awarded high-level dan ranks.

The highest distinction – 9th Dan (Master Rank) – was awarded to Avi Rokah in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of traditional karate worldwide and his direct lineage from Master Hidetaka Nishiyama.

Promotions were also awarded:

  • 8th Dan: Krzysztof Neugebauer, Józef Rączka
  • 7th Dan: Mirosław Ellwart, Janusz Sowa, Zbigniew Sitarz, Mirosław Kuciarski

This event marked an important moment for the international traditional karate community.

May 22-24 2026 in Zielona Góra will be organized International Master Seminar in Traditional Karate with Sensei Avi Rokah 8 dan.

We cordially invite everyone to the International Master Seminar in Traditional Karate, led by Sensei Avi Rokah, 8th Dan, a student of Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama, President of the World Traditional Karate-Do Federation (WTKF), who lives and trains in Los Angeles. Sensei Avi Rokah is a world-renowned karate instructor, 1994 World Champion, and multiple US gold medalist.

Yoshiaki Harada visit in DOJO STARA WIEŚ Poland 16.12.2018

We had a special guest on December in Dojo Stara Wies during the Masterclass Course. We was honored by Yoshiaki Harada – Japanese Minster of Enviroment who was visiting Poland as a leader of Japanese presence on COP24 the Ecological Summit held in Katowice. Sensei Włodzimierz Kwieciński together with Sensei Paweł Krzywański and award winning athletes of Polish National Karate Team hosted Minister Harada visit.

Yoshiaki Harada is the Minister of Environment of Japan and Minister of State for Emergency Prevention in the case of a nuclear accident. He is in the top 20 most influential people in Japan. He has been a member of the House of Representatives for many years, he has 6th judo and he leads the club of black belts in the Japanese Parliament.

„Yoshiaki Harada is my friend, he has been supporting our activities for many years. For the first time he supported us during the 1st Budo Conference in 2007, in 2013 he supported us during the formation of WTKF, sending letters of support to the sports authorities in the world. We are happy that his tight time agenda let him visited Dojo in Stara Wieś. The effect of the visit is to start cooperation and launch a program aimed at exchanging young people from southern Japan and Poland” – said Sensei Włodzimierz Kwieciński.

In spring 2019, at the invitation of Minister Yoshiaki Harada, a delegation from Poland will go to Japan to continue work on the cooperation program.

CELEBRATION OF 90. ANNIVERSARY OF SENSEI NISHIYAMA’S BIRTHDAY

90. Sensei’s birthday – 90 Japanese cherry trees – 90 kata

In 2018 we have been celebrating “2018 – the year of Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama’s legacy”. It is a very special time because in this year is the 90th anniversary of Sensei Nishiyama’s birthday and the 10th anniversary of his passing away.

It is to express our respect for our teacher, one of the greatest masters of karate in the 20th century – Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama. It is thanks to him that traditional karate-do has spread in such a splendid fashion all over the world. In all we do we recall his legacy and follow tradition.

In 2018 WTKF has been organizing a plenty of traditional karate-do seminars and tournaments which are dedicated to the memory of Sensei Nishiyama. The courses and seminars are conducted by the most experienced instructors who have developed this martial arts together with Sensei Nishiyama for many years.

Traditional Karate Federation of Poland is going to organize the celebration of 90. anniversary of Sensei Nishiyama’s birthday. It will be the closing event of “2018 – the year of Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama’s legacy” in Poland. The ceremony will take place on October 10, 2018 at the Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre Dojo – Stara Wieś.

This event is dedicated to all traditional karate-do practitioners, but especially to people who participated in trainings conducted by Sensei Nishiyama in Central Dojo in Los Angeles and San Diego as well.

Everyone who will participate in the celebration of Sensei Nishiyama’s birthday will become the founder of 1 of 90 Japanese cherry trees, which will be planted at the Center Dojo – Stara Wieś during the ceremony. Each tree will have a name plate with the name of its founder. In addition, the participant will also take part in the special training “90 kata” (27 x Unsu, 3 x Kitei, 27 Nijushiho, 3 Kitei, 27 x Hangetsu, 3 x Kitei). During the ceremony, an auction of Witold Kwieciński’s pictures will also take place, and all proceeds from the auction will be directed to Dawid Wiśniewski – a 10-year-old karateka who fights with a malignant brain tumour. Welcome!

The WTKF Summer Camp Gasshuku 2018 took place on August 20 to 24, 2018 at the Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre Dojo – Stara Wies in Poland. It took place as a part of celebration of “The Year of Sensei Nishiyama’s Legacy”.

The seminar was available for all participants with 4 kyu – 1 DAN. The seminar gathered about 130 participants and was conducted by the following instructors:

ILIJA JORGA Soke 10 DAN (Serbia)

Ilija Jorga – university professor, doctor of sports medicine, executive President and Founder of World Fudokan Federation (WFF) in 1980. Repeated medallists of European and world championships. The pioneer of karate of SFR Yugoslavia, which was on a very high technical level in that time with more that 200 thousand practitioners.

Ilija Jorga is one of the most experienced traditional karate-do instructor on all over the world. He began to engage in karate in 1959. His first instructor was his elder brother – Vladimir Yorga, and later he developed his karate-do under Tetsuji Murakami, Taiji Kase and Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama.

Ilija Jorga has been dedicating all his life to develop traditional karate-do worldwide, also in Poland. In 1976 he conducted in Poland first DAN examination. 8 people passed it. He supported Kwiecinski’s participation in World Championships in Lima, Peru in 1990, which was a milestone in traditional karate-do development worldwide.

Ilija Jorga is a man of renaissance, artist, sculptor and the author of many books.

For a few years WTKF and WFF have been building the common platform. The aim of this is further traditional karate-do development.

NELSON CARRION Sensei 7 DAN (Uruguay)

General Secretary of World Traditional Karate-do federation, General Director and Founder of Traditional Karate Do Institute (TKI) in 1997.

He is an examiner, international WTKF judge and traditional karate-do instructor with many years of experience. He has been training since 1971. He conducted the courses and seminars in: Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, France, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Swizerland, Tunisa, Uruguay and USA.

Nelson Carrion has participated in many traditional karate-do courses and seminars, conducted by Sensei Nishiyama as well.

He is cofounder and co organizer of many traditional karate-do organizations all over the world including: Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica, Spain and France.
