END OF THE YEAR 2014 SUMMARY

At this very special time of the year we would like to summarize what we did in the past 2014.

 

The main goal of our organization based in Geneva is to promote the Traditional Karate-Do in accordance with the decision of the 101st Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and in compliance with the “Traditional Karate Competition Rules”.

 

During the last year we organized a few very prestigious events with a great success.

 

The 6th Traditional Karate European Cup ORLEN 2014 took place on June 14th, 2014 at the Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre “Dojo-Stara Wieś” in Poland and was hosted by the Traditional Karate Federation of Poland. In this great event competed a superb selection of 8 men and 8 women amongst the elite traditional karate athletes from countries of: Armenia, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. In addition to the 6th Traditional Karate European Cup, an Intercontinental Kumite Cup took place which was attended by the teams from Brazil, Europe, USA and Poland.

 

From June 24th to 27th traditional karate enthusiasts from across the United States, Canada, and Poland gathered in International Camp in Dallas, Texas to practice together, exchange knowledge, and mingle with existing and new friends. The well-attended event boasted high-ranking instruction and 20 hours of training focused on kata, kumite, and calisthenics. The camp was conducted by Senseis Fusaro (9 Dan), Tabassi (7 Dan), Kwieciński (7 Dan), Tong (6 Dan), Kageyama (5 Dan) with the help of Senseis Minarik (6 Dan) and Ertl (6 Dan). The completion of the camp was followed by qualification examinations, Dan testing and the 53rd AAKF National Championship on June 27-28th for both youth and adult.

 

The summer edition of the Traditional Karate Seminar Gasshuku 2014 and the International Summer Camp took place on 12-17 August 2014 at the Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre “Dojo – Stara Wieś” in Stara Wieś (Poland). The seminar gathered more than 350 participants from 14 countries: Armenia, Austria, Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany, Israel, Japan, Lithuania, Russia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, USA, United Kingdom and Poland. The Summer Camp was held by sensei Mahmoud Tabbasi (USA) 7 Dan and by Japanese instructors: sensei Masakazu Hashimoto 6 Dan (Wado-ryu) and sensei Jyuji Izumi 5 Dan (Shito-ryu). The Gasshuku was held by sensei Avi Rokah (USA) 7 Dan. Summer Camp and Gasshuku Principal was sensei Włodzimierz Kwieciński (Poland) 7 Dan.

 

On October 13-20, 2014 the outstanding karate practitioners including the representatives of ITKF Board of Directors, coaches, instructors, a superb collection of elite traditional karate athletes, and current world champions visited Tokyo, Japan. They met with the representatives of Japanese government and the representatives of the different styles of karate in Japan to talk about the future of karate with respect to the World Games 2017 (Wrocław, Poland) and Olympic Games 2020 (Tokyo, Japan).

 

On October 24 to 25, 2014, the 17th World Traditional Karate-Do Championships took place in Geneva (Switzerland). In this prestigious event participated approximately 300 outstanding karate practitioners from 5 continents, a superb collection of elite traditional karate athletes from 24 countries from all over the world. They represented the countries of: Armenia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, the UK, Uruguay, the USA, Uzbekistan and Venezuela.

 

In addition to the above event, there was also the Traditional Karate World Cup “Children for Peace”, where the youngest athletes participated and represented the traditional karate clubs from all over the world. The tournament was held on October 26, 2014 and was part of the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Switzerland and Japan. More than 300 children from 13 countries participated to improve their skills and bond a new friendship. They represented the countries of: Armenia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Uruguay, Uzbekistan and the UK.
By the decision of the General Assembly, which took place along with the 17th World Traditional Karate-Do Championships, our federation is going to organize several large events in 2015 and 2016:

June 5-7, 2015 – Traditional Karate World Cup and Intercontinental Kumite Cup, Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre “Dojo-Stara Wieś” and “EC1 Łódź – the City of Culture” in Łódź, Poland

June 23-25, 2015 – International Camp, Washington, D.C., USA

August 2015 – International Summer Camp, Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre “Dojo-Stara Wieś”, Poland

October 2015 – European Championship, Vilnius, Lithuania

November 2015 – Pan American Championship, Natal, Brazil

 

2016

October 14-16, 2016 – 18th Multi-styles World Traditional Karate Championship and International Scientific Conference, Kraków the City of Renaissance, Poland

June 2016 – Traditional Karate European Cup and Intercontinental Kumite Cup, Poland

June 2016 – International Camp, Minneapolis, MN, USA

August 2016 – International Summer Camp, Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre “Dojo-Stara Wieś,” Poland
