The New Era ITKF Camp in USA was a Solid Success
From June 24th-27th traditional karate enthusiasts from across the United States, Canada, and Poland gathered in Dallas, Texas to practice together, exchange knowledge, and mingle with existing and new friends. The well-attended event boasted high-ranking instruction and 20 hours of training focused on kata, kumite, and calisthenics.
With an atmosphere full of positive energy and camaraderie, the first day concentrated on kata and its principles; the second day transitioned into kumite and ko-go basics and strategies; and the third day emphasized different aspects of judging. A new method of teaching and interaction interlocked these concepts and provided constructive opportunities for instructors and camp attendees to work together. The camp was conducted by Senseis Fusaro (9th Dan), Tabassi (7th Dan), Kwiecinski (7th Dan), Tong (6th Dan), Kageyama (5th Dan) with the help of Senseis Minarik (6th Dan) and Ertl (6th Dan). The completion of the camp was followed by qualification examinations, Dan testing and the 53rd AAKF National Championship on June 27-28th for both youth and adult.
As we practiced together and tested our skills against one another, Sensei’s spirit was felt amongst us. The trainings were based on Budo spirit, principles, and applications – teachings at the core of Sensei Nishiyama’s legacy and which he would incorporated during his San Diego summer camps.
Our next scheduled international camp is August 12-17th at Dojo Stara Weis in Poland. Hope to see you all there.
