Sensei Wayo Salas visited seminar conducted by Ilia Jorga soke in Warsaw central Dojo (Poland). Both karate legends know each other for more than 50 years.

It was beautiful and emotional meeting full of positive energy.

Seminar with Salas sensei (9 Dan)

The International Traditional Karate-do Seminar took place on May 11-13 at the Japanese Martial Arts and Sport Centre ‘Dojo – Stara Wies’ in Stara Wies (Poland).

The trainings were conducted by Sensei Eduardo Salas 9 Dan (Peru) – student, companion and friend of Sensei Nishiyama. Sensei Salas is also a key person in the development of traditional karate-do in Latin America.

Seminar participants had the opportunity to get to know Tai Chi, Qi Gong, the Chinese art of movement, meditation, practice of cultivating long life and martial arts. These exercises build life energy, activate the life and defense forces of the body, give cheerfulness and agility to the body.

Coordinator of the seminar, sensei Włodzimierz Kwieciński 8 Dan (Poland) summed up the May training:
– Sensei Salas spent many years studying traditional karate-do and developing in search of energy “chi”. It combines the knowledge and experience gained from many years of practice, showing how to maintain vitality and health. The energy of “chi” allows us to be active both physically and mentally and spiritually. Sensei can perfectly explain what “chi” energy is, and also show it!

As a part of the celebration of “2018 – The Year of Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama’s Legacy”, all WTKF Member Federations organize tournaments, seminars and training sessions dedicated to the memory of Sensei Nishiyama.

In Poland, another event that will take place as a part of celebration of “The Year of Sensei Nishiyama’s Legacy” is the International Traditional Karate-do Seminar, which will be conducted by Sensei Eduardo Salas 9 DAN (Peru).

Eduardo Salas is a special character in the history of traditional karate-do. He has been student, companion and friend of Sensei Nishiyama for more than 20 years.

GOLD COAST, AUS – OCT 04 2015: Aerial view of the Gold Coast in

Canberra seminar 24 – 25 February 2018
Gold Coast seminar 17 – 18 March 2018

The Australian Federation of Traditional Karate (AFTK) seminar was delighted to welcome the World Traditional Karate – Do Federation (WTKF), President Sensei Włodzimierz Kwieciński and his son Sensei Witold Kwieciński.

Sensei Kwieciński, said that “WTKF are keen to be working with groups, across the world, who are interested in traditional karate, developing ongoing relationships and committing to continuing education of Karate – do”.

Sensei Kwieciński introduced his presentation by defining traditional karate. Traditional karate is the combination of To-de, Budo and sports science.

To-de

To-de or Chinese hand refers to the traditional karate from Okinawa. Ginchin Funakoshi changed the name to Karate – Do. Traditional karate is an art of self-defense, it is more than just self-defense it is the acquisition of mental and physical skills

Budo

Budo is not only the physical part of fighting but the self – development of mind and body.

Sports science

Advances in sports science allow us to understand our bodies more and perfect training to minimise injuries, maximise effectiveness and to harmonise the balance and movements. It also provides up to date information on treating injuries.

Sensei Kwieciński introduced to participants the lost kata Sanchin. This was a White Crane kata from Fujian province. Participants had the opportunity to learn and practice some of the techniques in pairs. Jion was also practiced and techniques refined.

Sensei Kwieciński and his son also provided a presentation on the traditional Japanese built Dojo Stara Wieś, in Poland.

Those attending enjoyed both days of the seminar and AFTK acting President, Lester McCormick, thanked all presenters and wished everyone a safe trip home. AFTK are keen to follow this ACT seminar with another in 2019.
