INTERNATIONAL TRADITIONAL KARATE SEMINAR WINTER GASSHUKU 2017

The 2017 season has already started!

The winter edition of the International Traditional Karate Seminar Gasshuku 2017 took place on February 15 to 19, 2017 at the Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre Dojo – Stara Wies in Poland. The seminar gathered 150 participants from 6 countries: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland and Uruguay.

The trainings were conducted by the very special instructors from Japan – Masaru Kamino Sensei and Koichi Ogusu Sensei.

Sensei Masaru Kamino is a Shihankai Member of JKA (Japan Karate Association). We had the opportunity to take part in trainings conducted by Sensei Kamino during Winter Gasshuku in 2016.

Sensei Koichi Ogusu is a member of Shihan-Board of JKA (Japan Karate Association) and A-class Referee (JKA 7 Dan). He is also a President of the Karate-Do OB Association of Nagasaki University, which we have a friendship relation with.

The event was also attended by Chiyomaro Shimoda Sensei – legendary first Japanese karate instructor in Poland and supporter of idea of traditional karate development.

The Winter Gasshuku 2017 was the biggest in the history of winter seminars. On Thursday (Feb. 16) and Friday (Feb. 17) karatekas took part in 5 training sessions. The evening training sessions were conducted by Sensei Andrzej Maciejewski, WTKF Vice-president – who presented the Chinese form of kata and has been reporting the visit of WTKF delegation in China, in Fujian province. We are very opened for variety which is beautiful in its nature. It is only one proper direction to understand the karate as a martial art, as art of good manners and art of see the otherness.” – summarized Wlodzimierz Kwiecinski Sensei, WTKF President.

The accompanying event was the Plebiscite for the Best Polish Traditional Athletes 2016 which was held on February 18.
